Epidemic? Pandemic?

Figures released today, November 12, 2009 state that 540 American children have died from the swine flu since April. That equates to 77.1 children per month.
National figures for the year 2007 show that 4.8 American children are killed each month by a caregiver through abuse, cruelty, or neglect. That equates to 144 per month, and that is yearly, not seasonally.
Yet, do you hear or read that Social Services has requested that the Center for Disease Control declare a pandemic, much less an epidemic.
Folks, where are our priorities?
The killing of a roaming bear gets more vocal, media, and public comment than the killing of a child. Animal rights groups set up marches, rallies, and offer press releases voicing their discontent but when was the first time that anyone publicly decried the killing of a child by a parent or caregiver?
My wife and I have formed an organization, the National Association Against Child Cruelty. It is our intent to create a mobile Memorial Wall of Tears (TM) that will honor American children killed by their caregivers. You can read more about this by going to http://wwwthe injusticefiles.org.
The Wall of Tears (TM) has been designed and will have two video monitors on each of two columns on which will be scrolled the names of these children. It is not like the Vietman Wall with its finite list of name of our troops killed in the Viet Nam War. That War is over and it is unlikely that names will be added.
On the other hand, the Wall of Tears (TM) will have almost 5 new names added each day until...
It is our plan to take this mobile memorial wall to each State Capital and to speak to State legislators regarding changing laws and/or having them work with Federal legislators to change Title 42 of the United States Code which provides the trough from which all state Social Services "drink", that is, fund their statewide services. More on Title 42 later.
We have partnered with BACA, Bikers Against Child Abuse, who have agreed to escort the Wall of Tears (TM) to the capitals of the States in which BACA has Chapters. Please visit their websites to see how they support children who have been abused.
Ultimately, we plan to end this exodus in Washington, DC, where we plan to meet with Federal legislators to educate them to what is being done to America's children.
How can you help. Please get involved by educating yourself to what child cruelty is doing to children in your State, and nationally. Then, contact your area legislators and educate them and lobby for changes in the law.
